Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet President Donald Trump in Hamburg this weekend for a high-level meeting, the Kremlin said on Friday.
The two leaders will meet for a three-hour meeting at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Hamburg, a Kremlin statement said.
The US has been pushing for the two leaders to reach a deal on the use of Russian gas masks, a key demand of Moscow that has been repeatedly stymied by US and European concerns about a potential Russian gas attack on Ukraine.US Secretary of State John Kerry is due to visit Hamburg on Friday, and the two sides are expected to discuss ways to further deepen economic ties.
The meeting with Trump is likely to be one of the most significant bilateral meetings in the history of the summit.
The G20 group of leading economies will meet in Hamburg in October for its annual meeting, which is intended to be a forum for governments and business leaders to talk about global economic issues.
