The former ESPN personality and current New York Mets broadcaster has been arrested on charges of domestic violence stemming from an incident with his ex-girlfriend, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.
Alex Rodriguez, who appeared on ESPN’s “Inside the NBA” for six seasons and had an 8-year, $2 billion contract with the network, is accused of slapping and hitting his ex, who is currently in custody, in an altercation in their New York City apartment on Saturday.
According to court documents obtained by Radar, the ex-MLB star and his wife were having an argument on Friday, January 17, when she became enraged and accused him of slapping her.
Rodriguez then told her, “I can do what I want with you.
I can hit you.”
The couple argued more, and when the former star’s wife asked Rodriguez to leave the apartment, he allegedly pulled his wife’s pants down and started to touch her while holding her by the neck, according to the document.
The ex-actor then grabbed his wife and slapped her in the face, knocking her to the ground.
Rodriquez then allegedly punched her several times, causing her to drop to the floor, where he picked her up and dragged her to a nearby parking garage.
The former sports personality then allegedly kicked her, causing bruises to her face, head and neck, before he allegedly punched the victim in the nose, which caused a cut.
The alleged assault took place inside the garage, according the documents.
According the documents, Rodriguez then took the woman to the police station, where she claimed she was assaulted by him while he was still at work.
“I can say for a fact that it’s not my first time in a courtroom,” the woman told police, according a report.
“I’m a lawyer.”
Rodrigors ex-wife is now being held on $1 million bail, while the ex has been placed on house arrest in New York.
According a police source, Rodriguez has been accused of assault, battery, assault, domestic violence and battery.
